I really want my wife to get a Spark.

When every we talk about replacing her Cavalier the Spark gets mentioned, or a Sonic, but we both like the Spark more. The main reason I don't like the Sonic is the taillights, way too much chrome for such a small car. My local GM dealer has a purple one, which is the color she wants. and for only 15 grand for an LS automatic it's actually affordable.

I really do want an LT2 with the roof rack, and nicer wheels tho.

Oh and Chevy calls this color Grape Ice, which to me sounds like a Gatorade flavor.

Oh and one more thing I am so unbelievably angry that Honda isn't selling anything that competes with the Spark or the Sonic, yeah the Fit is also cheap, but it's ugly as hell now and taller than it needs to be.

Edit: other contenders include, Fiesta, Soul, Rio5, and she likes the Sonic Sedan, but I think small cars should never be sedans.

Drive it first. I would have liked it, but I hated the clutch. It was so light it almost felt like it wasn't there. It was slow with the manual, I bet it's slower with the auto.

Slow isn't the worst thing in the world. I had a couple Chevy Sprints a long time ago, and they were both slower than this Spark. The clutch really bummed me out. I ended up buying a used Fiat 500, which I love, but I could really use the extra doors and space of the Spark.

Test drive it configured the way you want. Play with everything as much as you can. If the sales person tries to rush you through anything tell him/her to shut up or they'll get another sales person to help.

When I was car shopping I crossed shopped everything in my price range and eliminated cars that didn't fit my needs. I tried being objective as possible. For example, I don't care for the civic or corolla but I lumped them in because they fit most of my needs. I wound up with the Mazda3 which is the one I wanted most to begin with because it fit all my needs and wants and it was a better price than some other considerations.

I'm glad my wife doesn't like pink. and yeah I think one thing GM is for sure getting right is having it available in fun colors. looking at the competition it's just black, grey, sliver, red, or dark red, and dark blue. Small economy cars need that fun factor because you're not going to sell them on luxury, or power, and no one whether they are into cars or not, really wants to drive a car that doesn't make them feel special some how.

Well its not a full size MDX, I drew the line at the RDX size. She basically sees a car and points at it, our neighbor has one. Another neighbor has a Mazda that looks good in black. I told her they all look pretty much the same to me so we can choose on quality and value, but having a turbo just makes me happy.

If I was going to buy an new SUV it'd be a battle between a CX-5 and Reneged.

Altho for RDX money you can get a Grand Cherokee Altitude, or Limited if you like chrome.

I was renting cars every weekend last year for an 800 mile round trip. I had a couple of Sparks, along with various Sonics (hatchback and sedan), Fiestas, Focuses, etc. The Fiesta would be the default choice here (I ended up buying one), but the DCT automatic gearbox is not to everyone's taste. The Spark looks great for a small car but it isn't the best to drive by any means (the Sonic is much more comfortable). As I recall, the touchscreen radio in the Spark was very nice but with by far the worst factory speakers I've ever heard.

I'd recommend trying both the Spark and the Sonic on a lengthy test drive if you can. Maybe even see if you can rent both for a day. Looks aren't everything.

The GMC Terrain comes in a similar color that my wife loves. She hated the way it drove though, so we got a CX-5, which we Iove.

I think the Spark is way too expensive. The only reason to buy one is for the Mary Kay Pink color offered.

The Spark's price is way too close to the Sonic. They should start well under 10k and top out at like 13k

Yeah our neighbor has a CX-5, black with tint. Pretty nice looking. I don't buy brand new cars so if I saw a previously leased RDX I might consider it, its not for me so as long as its not a bad car I don't care.

The spark is really roomy inside. I sat in one at the detroit auto show, and my 6'10" body fit. It was a bit snug for my liking, but if I had to drive one, I would be able to manage. My personal choice for color is the Lime, as it looks simply fantastic, and seems to match the car's cuteist personality.

I don't see anything wrong with the Purple. Get whatever your wife wants. From what I've heard, that makes things much easier for you.
